Artists have the ability to be the ‘eyes of the world’, to capture the essence and spirit of a moment in time and to inspire feeling and response in the viewer. As an artist my goal is to reveal the magic of the moment, the extraordinary in the mundane and to create a sense of beauty and mystery. To achieve this end I employ a variety of techniques including textures, glazes, and impasto. My work reflects hints of impressionist and post impressionist influence as well as abstract expressionism. I experiment with color, texture and light and the impact it has on mood and interpretation. I attempt to provide enough complexity through texture, light or composition to encourage the viewer to return to the painting again and again, each time seeing another aspect of the work.
